Professional ADO.NET 2: Programming with SQL Server 2005, Oracle, and MySQL
The book will focus on practical database applications for using ADO.NET 2.0. It will serve as a technical handbook, with plenty of code examples. The focus will be on ADO use with SQL Server 2005, but will also look at uses with Oracle and MySql. This book is one of an ongoing series of programming books published by Wrox Press.
About the Technology
ADO.NET 2.0 is due for release from Microsoft by the end of the year. It will be released in conjunction with Visual Studio 2005 Development Environment and Sql Server 2005. ADO.NET technology is used to access databases, such as Sql Server, Oracle, and other high end databases, and many applications are built using this technology.
Sql Server is the database that receives the most attention from the Microsoft Visual Studio development team. It is the one used most often in Microsoft application development. As a result, Sql Server and Visual Studio will be closely tied together this year. With Sql Server it will be possible to program using the .NET Framework and ADO.NET from directly within the database.
